Another day in my car studio!

After this morning’s lecture from Artist, Clare Rose, I was inspired to get out and paint from observation! Clare expressed within this lecture the importance of observation when painting and how it will help you to improve this skill. Recently, I have been making quick sketches with charcoal when out and about, to improve the compositions of my landscapes.

Before Painting at the Nature Reserve, I completed a sketch using charcoal to help me determine the composition of my painting. Through doing this I was able to plan out where the horizon line would be on my canvas and overall, which elements of my view would dominate the scene.
