Searching for a spot to paint!

It’s our Easter break, which means I’m distanced from the rolling hills of Wales, and instead find myself searching for inspiration amongst the Staffordshire landscape! On today’s drive in search for a scene to paint, I found myself at Blithfield Resevoir. The sun finally made an appearance, and I was inspired by it’s effect on the water and distant fields. Just in front of my view was a budding tree which I decided to incorporate within my painting. Although a warm day behind the protection of my car’s windscreen, high winds meant that the clouds moved quickly, as did the  water within the reservoir. I mixed up colours and applied them to the canvas in layers, in order to create an effective representation of the scene before me.
